Stop living with yellow or discolored teeth. Teeth whitening is appropriate for patients who are bothered by stains or discoloration in their teeth. Patients who have moderate or severe tooth and gum sensitivity may not be good candidates, although some whitening options are available to help reduce irritation.

Patients should also understand that synthetic restorations such as dental crowns or porcelain veneers will not be affected by the treatment. Patients who continue to smoke, or drink coffee and/or red wine, may require more treatment sessions to achieve the results they desire.

Dr. Durán takes the time to thoroughly evaluate each patient's oral health, their treatment needs and their candidacy for various whitening treatments. Based on the degree of whitening needed, as well as the patient's sensitivities, he may recommend laser treatments, whitening trays, or an over-night guard.

Dr. Durán offers several teeth whitening treatments, based on each individual patient's needs.

These options include

• Night Guards — Overnight whitening trays lined with a special whitening solution. A convenient option for patients who cannot wear trays during the day, or who experience discomfort with other trays. Depending on the degree of whitening needed, these trays can be worn anywhere from three to ten nights.
• In-office Bleaching — Whitening gel is carefully applied to the teeth. This procedure can produce results that are several shades whiter, but may require several office visits before the final outcome is achieved.
