Tips On Invisalign® Treatments

Invisalign braces are a great orthodontic option for patients who don't want to wear uncomfortable traditional braces. This type of teeth straightening treatment is far less painful and a lot more convenient. However, Invisalign is still an orthodontic treatment. To get the most out of it, here are a few tips to make sure your treatment does its job correctly and as quickly as possible.

1. Floss every day

You might already be brushing daily, but when is the last time you flossed? While undergoing an Invisalign treatment, flossing should be more important than ever. Aligners are known to hold gunk left over from meals and sometimes even brushing. Be sure to always clean thoroughly between your teeth with floss every day — and sometimes even twice a day.

2. Stick to the 48-hour instruction

Each set of aligners must be worn for the prescribed time before you move on to the next. Jumping ahead of schedule doesn't speed up treatment — it can disrupt the planned movement and lengthen the process instead.

3. Wear your aligners 20 to 22 hours a day

Remove them only to eat, to drink anything other than water, and for your oral hygiene. Hours out of the mouth are what delay your result.

4. Keep the aligners clean

Rinse them each time you take them out and clean them with a soft brush. Storing them damp or dirty creates odor and cloudiness — and makes them visible.

These are just a few tips to help your Invisalign treatment go by as smoothly and quickly as possible. If you have any questions, contact our office in San Juan to speak with Dr. Durán or the staff.
